For many players who enjoy a few games at their local bingo hall, incidents such as robberies and attacks have had a serious effect on their enjoyment of the game.

While some players prefer to avoid the hassle and risks of venturing out to their local clubs, others are determined to enjoy their bingo, and are not willing to back down because of a few incidents.

By following a few basic safety precautions, you can enjoy your bingo while still staying safe. Keep the following in mind when you next head out to play bingo at your local hall:

1. If you are walking to bingo, keep a can of pepper spray on hand, and be extra vigilant about being followed. If you see anyone suspicious, try and cross over to a more populated part of the road or walk in the middle of the road where cars might see you.
2. Be careful of showing off your huge win at the hall, and try not to flash large amounts of cash around – especially when leaving the venue.
3. Take only what you need to play the games, and try not to bring valuables with you – this could attract potential muggers.
4. Consider online bingo games as an alternative option for land-based bingo. This at least gives you an alternative option, making it safer and generally easier all round.
5. Go to bingo with friends and form a lift club or buddy system so that you do not have to walk alone – this way you will have more fun and keep safe at the same time.
6. Don’t trust strangers who offer to help you with any money-related things, even if they sound like they are official or safe, they may simply be after your money.
7. Set a budget for your games, and stick to it – don’t carry around too much cash or borrow money off other bingo players.
