There has been a surge of violence at bingo halls across the country lately, with a number of incidents that have seen players act violently towards other players.

In one recent occurrence, an elderly player was banned from her local hall for hitting a bingo manager in the face, while in another recent incident a 70 year old woman was beaten after accidentally tripping over the extended legs of a younger player. The younger woman had just won a £600 jackpot, but despite this win was not in a happy mood.

Her act of aggression took place at a Gala hall in Tooting, and although the attack left the elderly victim black and blue, bingo authorities have stated that the incident was minor and no charges have been pressed.

As more and more incidents plague halls across the UK, many players are opting to get their bingo fix online. Crime, the smoking ban and now player on player attacks have all left their mark, and the recession’s effect on halls has also had impact on the number of players choosing to play online rather than land-based bingo.

One thing is certain, bingo should be about fun and wins, and there is never any excuse for violent behavior. Online bingo players agree; the online version is safer, easier and overall much better all round.
